Today, all over Facebook, my friends were posting links and discussing the video of the California teen who was calling for a Girl Scout cookie boycott because the Girl Scouts admitted a transgender seven year-old to a troop in Colorado. In response to this “Honest Girl Scouts” crap, my friend Renee commented, “Hate doesn’t get you to Heaven. Just in case you were curious!!!!!” And I told her that needed to be a t-shirt.
My first reaction to such ignorance and hatred is usually to get angry. But, tonight, I decided instead that I would actually create a t-shirt and sell it, with proceeds going to support LGBTQ youth. So that’s what I’ve done. I created the design below and put it up for sale on skreened.com. For every t-shirt I sell, I’ll donate $7 (the amount that I make from each shirt) to organizations that support these vulnerable young people. I’m going to start with The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center’s youth programs and the Hetrick-Martin Institute.
This is awesome. I going to try to get all my friends to buy t-shirts.
Thanks, Daryl. That would be great!
